Trucker to Trucker: Another Reason to Get Involved |

How would you truckers like to have a black eye? Well, that's what our collective reputation as truck drivers is getting because of a few drivers in the trucking industry. You may also be helping them. Let me explain. If you have read any of the articles on this website, Truckers Against Trafficking, then you know the immense problem this issue is for the trucking industry. The most important factor is the cost in human suffering and if you've read any of these articles or viewed any of the videos on this site, you will know that. I don't see how anyone can be aware of the information on this website without feeling a lot of human compassion for the victims of this insidious industry. However, I would like to present you with another reason to get involved. This reason has nothing to do with the fact that the victim of kidnapping and human slave trafficking could be your own daughter, sister, or even wife or girl friend. This has nothing to do with the fact that these young girls and boys and older men and women are raped, beaten, drugged, and used in ways worse than animals. This has nothing to do with the fact that the morally reprobate and despicable characters who are responsible for these atrocities should be locked away.
If those reasons are not enough to get you as a trucker involved in fighting this problem, then here is another one which might appeal to you. It is a matter of pride in being a trucker. For most truckers, the above mentioned reasons are enough and this one will just be an added reason.
A lot of the trafficking in human beings is done through the trucking industry. A fringe of truckers actively engage in the transport of human slaves for profit. Many truckers also unknowingly contribute to the problem by being customers of prostitutes who are actually helpless victims of the sex slave trafficking industry. We truckers have already had our reputations smeared by the fringe group of truckers who use drugs. We have also had our reputation as professional drivers damaged by drivers who drive their rigs like a bat out of hell and in an unprofessional manner. Now we're getting our reputation damaged and tattered by a small group of truckers who will haul anything for a buck including human slaves. I don't know about you, but of the three groups mentioned above, the last one is, in my opinion, the worse. I really don't know how anyone in our country, much less any other country can stoop so low as to traffick in human beings. It's true that traffickers are human too, but there is such a thing as personal responsibility. We are born with a conscience, but for some people that conscience gets seared like a piece of meat. Thereafter it just doesn't function properly; however, that is no excuse. Human traffickers should be caught and punished.
You may be saying, "Well, slavery has been in existence since the dawn of man." And you would be correct. However, that doesn't mean it has to happen in our industry in America. It doesn't mean we have to put up with it.
I don't know about you, but as a professional truck driver, I am mad as hell. You should be too, if you call yourself a trucker.

Join with us in getting rid of that fringe of so called truck drivers who prey on the weak.
